Impact

Champions Retreat is designed to leave a positive mark on the community we gather in while minimizing our environmental footprint. Through local partnerships, responsible sourcing, waste reduction, and lower-carbon event practices, we aim to support local needs, strengthen community connections, and model what a more sustainable, inclusive gathering can look like.

Calling all B Corps in the food, beverage, and personal hygiene sectors

Join B Lab U.S. & Canada to support Hunger Task Force and the families it serves—virtually!

This virtual food drive offers the chance to “shop” for essential items, place them in your cart, and check out—making a meaningful difference for individuals and families in our community. Together, we can help provide vital support to hungry children, families, and seniors throughout Milwaukee.

Product donations would be an especially impactful way to support this effort and would be greatly appreciated. In recognition of your generosity, the Champions Retreat will acknowledge participating organizations and donors across Champions Retreat communications channels.

Let’s come together to raise essential food and household items for those who need them most.

Sustainability

Located in the center of Milwaukee, the Baird Center stands as a leading example of sustainable venue design. Recently expanded, the facility has earned LEED Gold certification and incorporates forward-thinking features, including a solar roof, advanced stormwater systems, and extensive energy-efficient technologies. The Baird Center reflects Milwaukee’s growing commitment to environmentally responsible development and sets a strong benchmark for sustainable event spaces in the region.

To deepen our sustainability efforts at the Baird Center, we’ve partnered with TripZero (a Certified B Corp) to balance the carbon emissions from attendee travel. For every ton of CO₂ generated, one Certified Carbon Offset is purchased, directly supporting projects in renewable energy, methane capture, and forest conservation that strengthen local ecosystems and communities. We also encourage attendees who are able to consider lower-impact travel options—public transit, shared rides, biking, or simply walking between nearby locations—whenever it fits their plans.

Working with Greener by Default, we’ve also reimagined our approach to food. Plant-forward meals take center stage this year, helping us significantly cut the event’s carbon footprint. Meat and dairy options remain available, but our default selection reflects our shared commitment to climate-friendly dining.

At the Mitchell Park Domes, the venue’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond ecological stewardship. The team at the Domes is reimagining this iconic conservatory through the Domes Reimagined plan, which upgrades aging glass and mechanical systems to reduce energy waste while retrofitting infrastructure for long-term resilience.

Lakefront Brewery is deeply committed to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. Over the years, they’ve implemented a wide range of sustainable practices — from solar panels on their warehouse and a white reflective roof to reduce heat absorption, to heat‐recovery systems that reuse brewery waste heat and water. They also prioritize local and organic sourcing, having been the first organic brewery in the U.S., and support their community through initiatives like the Ripple Effect giving program, focused on climate justice and equitable economic growth.
Our sustainability lens extends into how we produce and operate the event. We’ve prioritized environmentally responsible printing materials and taken deliberate steps to reduce, and in many cases eliminate, single-use items throughout the experience.
