Climate Justice Can’t Wait: An Earth Month Call to Action

March 28, 2025

This article is a personal perspective from an employee at B Lab, the nonprofit behind Certified B Corporations. In this series, we invite B Lab employees to share their experiences, inspiration, hopes, and challenges as they work toward a more inclusive and regenerative world. This edition of B Lab Voices is from Clementina Consens, Senior Associate, Climate Justice.

Spring is here, and so is Earth Month — a time to reconnect with and honor one of our most vital relationships: our relationship with our planet.

Since joining B Lab U.S. & Canada as Senior Associate for Climate Justice in June 2024, I’ve had the privilege of supporting the Certified B Corporation community’s collective efforts to drive meaningful climate action in the business world.

Working alongside Kylie Nealis, Senior Program Manager, I’ve helped organize and host pivotal climate justice events, including Bridging the Gap: Business and Community Partnerships for Climate Justice and the Business Climate Finance Happy Hour during New York Climate Week 2024. We closed out the year with the B Corp Workshop for Advancing Climate Justice in December, strengthening our community through foundational resources designed to help businesses take impactful, justice-centered climate action.

Now, we’re at a critical moment — both within the B Corp movement and globally. Caring for our shared home shouldn’t be divisive, yet this year has shown how climate action continues to be made into a politically polarizing issue. In the face of this challenge, we must focus on building bridges between differing perspectives — recognizing that, at our core, we all share a responsibility for caretaking the world we depend on. Now more than ever, we must choose collaboration over division and take collective action.

In this spirit, we invite U.S. and Canadian B Corps to find both solace and strength in our community. Join the B Corp Climate Collective as we prepare to launch our network calls in June, creating space to voice challenges, share insights, and align on the opportunities for businesses to continue advancing climate justice.

“Whether or not you choose to call it climate justice, there is an ongoing opportunity to do climate work in a kinder and more equitable way.” — Clementina Consens, Senior Associate, Climate Justice, B Lab U.S. & Canada

Earth Month Challenge Is a Call to Action for B Corps

With new climate and environmental standards for B Corp Certification on the horizon, it’s time for B Corps to move from intention to implementation. That’s why the Earth Month Challenge: Climate Justice Can’t Wait is a call to action for businesses to engage with the tools and teachings that can help drive transformative change.

To further support B Corps in aligning with the new standards, we’re partnering with Terra.do to offer a Carbon Accounting and Reduction course, with full scholarships available for those demonstrating completing the Earth Month Challenge or demonstrating financial need.

“The act of driving climate action is moving from the federal to the individual, making business action more important than ever.” — Seth Collins, Director of Learning, Terra.do

The challenge invites B Corps to explore the extensive resources developed by B Lab U.S. & Canada’s Climate Justice team, including our newly released Introduction to Climate Justice for Business guide. Whether it’s integrating climate justice into business operations, forging partnerships with frontline communities in right relations, or shifting business finances toward a climate-just future, we have the tools for you.

Climate Justice Resources and Opportunities for Businesses

Throughout April, we’ll be sharing insights, resources, and actionable steps for embedding climate justice into business — not as an optional initiative but as a core responsibility. As the new standards create pathways for B Corps to lead on climate action, we also invite B Corps to attend the Climate Action Impact Collab at the end of April to dive deeper into these opportunities.

Register now for the Climate Action Impact Collab on April 30.

Want to take your commitment even further? We encourage our B Corp community to contribute climate justice case studies of real-world examples of how businesses are advancing climate justice. By sharing successes and learnings, we can collectively strengthen our movement and inspire more businesses to take action.

Join us in making this Earth Month a turning point for business-led climate action centered in justice — because climate justice can’t wait.
